What is Adware.Superiorads?

Adware.Superiorads is yet another malware among the thousands of adware that are prevalent online. It installs itself as a Browser Helper Object and periodically displays advertisements on the computer. It affects Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari and Mozilla Firefox. Adware.Superiorads functions across the below Windows versions:

Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP. Once in the system, Adware.Superiorads creates the following files:

  • %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\fupd.exe
  • %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\gewhk1
  • %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\s23o
  • %System%\sprt_ads.dll
  • %System%\_sprt_ads.dll

Adware.Superiorads also makes changes in the registry. These changes enable Adware.Superiorads to run on every PC session. For this, it creates the following files:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\"spa_start" = "C:\WINDOWS\System32\Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\sprt_ads.dll" DllStart"

Adware.Superiorads connects to a remote server to display ads. Its aim is to monitor users browsing session and display ads relevant to user interests.
