What is Trojan.PWS.OnlineGames.AABK?

Trojan.PWS.OnlineGames.AABK is variation of a large family of viruses generally classified as Trojan.OnlineGames virus. Trojan.PWS.OnlineGames.AABK, like all of its family members is designed to steal confidential data of online game players. Trojan.PWS.OnlineGames.AABK starts off by capturing the user id and password. This detail is then transferred to a remote hacking team. Once this information is retrieved by the remote hackers, the details are used to log on to the gaming accounts. The assets of these accounts like coins, credits, accessories, etc. are then transferred directly to other players accounts that have paid to buy assets. The games targeted are MapleStory, Age Of Conan, Rohan, The Lord OF The Rings, Knight Online, Lands Of Aden and World of Warcraft, to name a few.

Trojan.PWS.OnlineGames.AABK generally enters user system without user downloading it. It can pose as a update (fake) or an attractive link (which is malicious). Once it enters the system, it enables itself to run on start up by creating the following registry file:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Name: cdoosoft
Value: "%System%\olhrwef.exe

It then drops hidden .dll files named nmdfgds0.dll or nmdfgds1.dll in %System% folder. This file enables the password stealing. It is then injected into all running programs and applications and is used to monitor mouse gestures and keystrokes.

Trojan.PWS.OnlineGames.AABK also deactivates the installed antivirus program and thus is able to thrive for a long time without being detected. It also creates registry keys so as to make itself invisible.
