Hi Maryanne, Welcome to Gethelp!

Follow the steps below to uninstall and reinstall the printer/scanner.

1. Open Control Panel

2. Click on Uninstall a program

3. Uninstall the Printer/Scanner application from the list

4. Reboot your computer

5. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player 

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html 

6. Download the full feature software and drivers, and then reinstall the printer/scanner application.

For further assistance, revert back with the exact name and model of the printer/scanner that you are using.

Hi  Maryanne, Greetings !!

Do check if the full featured drivers are installed,

For that make a note of the make and model of your printer/scanner

Then go to the below webpage :

http://www.brother-usa.com/support/?PGID=1#.Vjg7SVe0AdU

and search for your printer software and install the full feature drivers and configure it again.

If you face any difficulties do reach us with the exact make and model of your scanner and errors if any ....
